Do you support Pope Francis to intervene the Rohingya Muslim issue?
Pope Francis is reportedly making arrangements to meet with a small group of Rohingya Muslims who fled Myanmar’s northern Rakhine state for neighbouring Bangladesh during his 3-day visit to Bangladesh.
Speaking at a press conference at Ramna Cathedral today, Cardinal Patrick D’ Rozario said “We are trying, with approval of the government, to bring a small group of Rohingyas to Dhaka. We hope we can do it.”
D’ Rozario and six other bishops are making preparations for the papal visit to Bangladesh which begins on Thursday. He said he would discuss with authorities in Bangladesh and Myanmar, regarding whether would the Pole use the political-sensitivity word “Rohingya” against the advice of Catholic Church leaders in Myanmar.
About up to 800,000 Catholics from all around Bangladesh are expected to attend the Pope’s mass in state capital Dhaka.
